My Washer Won T Drain Completely

My washer won t drain completely. It isn t that difficult to access the insides of a washing machine to service the motor and that may be what you have. If your washer spins but can t pump water through the hose an item of clothing may be stuck in the line. If nothing is obstructing the drain tube the problem is most likely at the washing machine pump. Prop up the washer and remove the two screws that secure the front panel.
When a washer won t drain it s usually because there s a clog or the pump is broken. Once the washer is empty support the front of it on paint cans or stacked 2x4s. To test this remove the drain hose attached to the washer and make sure it is clear. Remove the drain hose attached to the water pump and check the pump and hose for obstructions.
Here are some things you can do when your washer won t drain properly. Clamp the hose to prevent any remaining water from running out. To find out what s preventing your washer from draining you ll need to access the parts of your machine to check for damage or clogs.
