My White Marble Tile Is Turning Gray With Water
The bottom 1 1 2 rows of tiles on 2 walls are turning gray.
My white marble tile is turning gray with water. We also have the same tile on the floor of another bathroom and mosaic marble on the shower floor in that room. This also allows residual water that permeates into your grout and tile to breath and. Melissa more than likely it s water absorption. When you work hard scrubbing your tiles so they re wet and sparkling you might be surprised to see white film streaks or spots appear as the water dries.
If it does turn white again and you seal it you are still going to have water penetrate the marble along all the edges through the grout. 11 09 2010 07 46 pm. If the lippage is higher than the thickness of a nickel it is considered excessive and the tile will have to be ground to flaten the floor. Lippage is the result of a poor installation. I don t really see how it will get any better. That mosaic does get dirty from feet and needs cleaning weekly but the ceramic tile grout around the walls of the shower gets mildew on it at the drop of a hat despite wiping it down after every use with a towel.
You can t seal the inner sides otherwise the grout won t adhere. Oh and that part was done a week or so ago that grey thinset is dry and will be covered with white thinset for tiling i had some grey left over from the floor mike willis nov 29 13 at 2 59 please please do consider using kerdi everywhere from and for the floor pan and up onto the walls as far as the walls could possibly get wet. There is less water to evaporate. Once the water evaporates it will turn back to white. I ve used delorean gray on white marble and it reverted back. In other words the edge of one tile is higher then the next.
